Counselling Skills ....
Many managers or other professionals will, at some point in their careers, find themselves in the role of a counsellor without having a true understanding of the concept of counselling or what the role of the manager in giving counselling entails.
First of all, there is a big difference between a professional counsellor and a person who uses some counselling skills as part of their role, the two roles should never be confused. A manager or HR professional may use some of the same techniques as that of a professional counsellor, but that is where the similarity ends. A professional counsellor is a highly trained individual who is able to use a different range of counselling approaches with their clients.
Management counselling is about giving support to employees who are struggling with problems that are affecting their work performance and helping them overcome them by giving the person tools and techniques to solve problems.
